One “Spiky” surface develops the maximum surface area for drug confinement and eventual elution.

We anticipate this spiky surface to have at least 10 times the surface area of a traditional coating. This feature lends itself to very interesting applications, including:

• the confinement of drugs for elution
• the enhancement of catalysts
• a permanent super-wetting surface for sensors
